Martian Mysteries: The Perseverance and Ingenuity Mission

6:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Portage District Library

Event Details

After an August 2020 launch, the Perseverance rover is on its way to Mars, along with its companion, the Ingenuity copter. How will Perseverance collect samples that will travel back to Earth and what do we hope to find? How can Ingenuity stay aloft in Mars’ depleted atmosphere with only 1% of the density of our own atmosphere? Let’s get ready for the mission landing in February 2021 by learning about this spectacular voyage and mission.

Lisa Wininger, NASA Solar System Ambassador and state STEM Director, will present this interactive program on Zoom. Lisa is a former Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator with NASA, and completed a mission on the SOFIA flying observatory. Lisa is also a Space Foundation Teacher Liaison and hosts summer air and space camps for grades 3-12.
