Meet author Wade Rouse, a.k.a. Viola Shipman, at Portage District Library as a part of the 2023 Michigan Notable Books Author Tour! Wade will give a presentation about his stirring memoir
Magic Season: A Son's Story. For decades, baseball offered Wade and his father Ted a shared vocabulary—a way to stay in touch, to connect and to express their emotions. But when his father's health takes a turn for the worst, Wade returns to southwest Missouri to share one final season with his father.
No reservations or tickets are required. However, seating will be limited.
Kazoo Books will be on hand to sell copies of "Magic Season" and accept discounted pre-orders for Viola Shipman's new book "Famous in a Small Town" coming out on June 13th.
Wade Rouse is a USA Today and internationally bestselling author of fifteen books that have been translated into 21 languages. He chose his grandmother’s name, Viola Shipman, as a pen name to honor the working poor Ozarks woman whose heirlooms and family stories inspire his fiction.
Thank you to The Library of Michigan, The Library of Michigan Foundation, Michigan Humanities, and the Michigan Center for the Book for sponsoring this special event.
